A policy that will make farming mandatory for students studying Agricultural Science and Engineering across the tertiary institutions in Nigeria will soon be enforced.
The Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chief Audu Ogbeh stated this in an interview with Radio Nigeria Progress FM reporter in Ado-Ekiti.
Chief Ogbeh explained that the era where some people would study Agric Science and find their way into other professions had gone.
He noted that if a sizeable number of those who studied agriculture as a profession actively engaged in the business, Nigeria would always lead in food exportation and sufficiency.
The Minister called on students of Agricultural Science to see reasons in practicing farming with the aim of competing favourably with their counterparts in developed countries.
