Stakeholders Proffer Way Forward for Food Security

Stakeholders in Agriculture has converged on Ibadan to articulate the way forward for food security in Nigeria.

They observed that agriculture has been neglected for too long while had resulted in the challenges facing the nation.

General Yakubu Gowon opined that with the involvement of youths in mechanized farming, the country would be the food basket of the entire world in the next 10 years

Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, however, advised the nation to establish yam certification center for international acceptability of the produce








Former Minister of Agric and President African Development Bank, Dr Akinwunmi Adesina said 24 billion dollars had been provided by AFDB to sustain agriculture.

In a message Acting President of Nigeria, Yemi Osibanjo advised researchers and technologists to commercialize their findings for quicker and wider spread.

Represented by the Minister for Agriculture, Audu Ogbe, Mr Osibanjo advised IITA and other research institutes to establish subsidiaries for job creation.
