Fifty percent of teachers in Kano State are not qualified.
The State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje stated this , while declaring open the Second National Conference of Nigeria Union of journalists, NUJ in Kano.
He said instead of relieving the teachers of their appointments, the Government collaborated with Universities and Colleges of Education in the state by organizing special training programmes for them.
The Governor explained that out of about Twenty-five thousand teachers, only Two Thousand had completed the training.
He noted that teaching is a profession and a successful teacher must have undergone basics in Education training, irrespective of his qualification.
Governor Ganduje said his administration planned to use the strength of Kano’s population to its advantage through qualitative education.
