Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi says effective from next month; the central abattoir built by the State Government in Amosun village, Ibadan would become fully operational.
The Governor stated this during a meeting with Butchers in the state, held at the House of Chiefs, State Secretariat, Ibadan.
Governor Ajimobi noted that the relocation to the new central abattoir was a necessity to help improve the way butchers handled meat.
Governor Ajimobi explained that the new central abattoir has all the facilities and personnel to make it a hygienic business place for butchers.
Earlier, the Butchers, through a representative, had appealed to the Governor, to decentralize the Abattoir in the eleven local government areas in Ibadan to ensure proximity to the market and reduce service charges in the Abattoir.
The Ultra-Modern Abattoir at Amosun Village in Akinyele Local Government Area of the state was inaugurated in 2014 to serve the Eleven Local Government Areas in Ibadan but had not been adequately utilized as a result of several excuses from Butchers to fully move into the facility.
