Ekiti State House of Assembly has amended the law on prohibition of cattle and other ruminant grazing in Ekiti.

In the amendment which was unanimously supported by eleven Lawmakers who held the sitting at the plenary, all Herdsmen are expected to register with the State Government for proper data capturing.

In addition any person who deliberately attacks or kills the live stock of Herdsmen will bag one year jail term, while any Landlord who harbors unregistered Herdsmen will be jailed for three years.

The Speaker of the House, Pastor Kola Oluwawole said the amendment was to further ensure equity in the law and make it more relevant to modern day realities.

Similarly, the House passed into law the bill for the Appointment of Persons to the Office of the Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Justice.
