In a bid to ensure proper waste management and control across Ogun State, the House of Assembly has passed a resolution on the need for the Government to provide additional dumpsites in each of the Local Council Areas and Waste Transfer Stations in the State.

The passage of the resolution followed a motion by the member representing Obafemi-Owode State Constituency, Mr. Tunde Sanusi.

Mr. Sanusi pointed out that the measure would promote clean environment by addressing the challenge of indiscriminate dumping of wastes by the people and a large number of industries in the State.

Other lawmakers including Mr. Adewale Alausa, Mr. Idowu Olowofuja and Mr. Adebowale Ojuri maintained that the measure would provide opportunity for waste recycling in the State and enhance Government revenue generation and as well provide employment for the people.

In a remark, Speaker of Ogun State House of Assembly, Mr. Suraj Adekunbi said the House would ensure the amendment of the existing environmental law of the State to meet the present-day realities.
