The All Progressives Congress APC in Ekiti State has alleged that the shooting at the party’s Secretariat is an attempt to assassinate Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
A statement by the APC state Publicity Secretary, Chief Taiwo Olatunbosun maintained that the assailants, who dressed in mobile police uniform had been arrested.
Chief Olatunbosun said the action was a clear plan to paint APC in black and create wrong impression about the party.
Also, Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu has described as malicious, a report by the PDP in Ekiti that he was behind the needless shooting.
Governor Akeredolu who said he knew nothing about the identity of the suspect, explained that his presence in Ekiti was to show support for Dr. Kayode Fayemi.
Meanwhile, the Ekiti State Police Command has disclosed that the policeman, who shot three people after the APC rally was one of the policemen deployed from Lagos.
Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Cale Ikechukuwu in a statement, said he hoped this explanation would put to rest all manners of rumours and insinuations about the incident.
It would be recalled that Former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr Fayemi had arrived Ekiti State yesterday from Abuja after his resignation from office.
Dr Fayemi, who is the APC Governorship candidate was received by a large crowd of party members, friends and supporters at Akure airport.
