The Osun State National Health Insurance Scheme Bill 2017 has scaled through the second reading on the floor of the Osun State House of Assembly, OSHA.
Reading the policy thrust of the bill, the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, Mr. Dejo Bello said the passage of the bill would provide residents easy access to affordable quality health service delivery.
Buttressing the point, Chairman, House Committee on Health, Mr. Oyeleke Ogunsola explained that health service should be available to everybody, not only for those who can afford.
Mr. Ogunsola noted that enrollees of NHIS would be safe from financial risk as they can enjoy quality health service at little cost.
Some of the members of the House in their separate contributions called for the speedy passage of the bill as it would ensure a healthy living of the people of the state.
In his remark, the Deputy Speaker, Mr. Akintunde Adegboye who presided over the plenary directed the joint House Committee on Health and Judiciary to look into the bill & present the report next Monday to fast-track the speedy passage of the bill.
Similarly, the House has directed House Committees on Public Account and Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, as part of their statutory duty, to invite Heads of local governments, LCDAs, Area Offices and Administrative Offices in the state to appear and brief the House and people of the state on their activities and stewardship.
The House also directed, through the House Committee on Finance and Appropriation, that Ministries, Agencies and Departments of government, MDAs, should submit their midyear budget report for review to ascertain the performance of the budget.
