The National President of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeder Association of Nigeria, Alhaji Muhammad Kirowa wants government to fish out those behind the killings across the country.
Alhaji Kirowa stated this at a forum organised by the Southwest Farmers Association in Ibadan to strengthen the relationship between the farmers and herdsmen.
He said crime, which was on the increase across the country needed to be tackled to prevent escalation.
The Miyetti Allah leader explained that crime was not restricted to ethnicity, religious or political affiliation .
Alhaji kirowa noted that any individual or groups who engaged in criminality must be arrested and prosecuted to always serve as deterrence to others.
Alhaji kirowa said the group was embarking on data capturing of its members and also issuance of identification card for easy tracking.
He urged the government to ensure massive sensitization campaign for its members on the benefits of ranching before implementing the policy.
In a remark, Commissioner of Special Duties in Osun State, Mr Mudashiru Toogun explained that the state had remained peaceful due to the proactive measures of the government.
Mr Mudashiru, who commended the effort of the Southwest governor in tackling farmers-herders challenges stressed that social and economic activities could only thrive in an atmosphere of peace.
Chairman, Southwest Farmers Association, Mr Segun Dasaolu said the forum had helped in resolving some contentious issues between the farmers and herdsmen to sustain peaceful coexistence.
