The Federal Government through the World Bank is set to provide financial and technical assistance to states across the country to develop livestock agriculture.

This was made known at a courtesy visit by a team of World Bank and Federal Ministry of Agriculture officials to the Oyo State Ministry of Agriculture in Ibadan.

Leader of the team, Mr. Samuel Taffesse who is from World Bank, said the Federal government through the World Bank was preparing a Two Million Dollars soft loans to interested states to rejuvenate livestock production in the country.

Mr. Taffesse explained that the visit was to assess and sensitize stakeholders in the livestock sector as well as identify areas of comparative advantages of Oyo state.

In a remark, Commissioner for Agriculture, Natural Resources and Rural Development, Mr. Oyewole Oyewunmi seized the medium to clear speculation that the state government had conceded to allocate lands for cattle ranching, describing the matter as untrue.

Mr. Oyewunmi reiterated the determination of the state government to make the agriculture sector viable to improve the economy.
