The Ogun State House of Assembly wants relevant stakeholders to collaborate with the government to tackle the challenge of encroachment of State’s forest reserves.

The Speaker of the House, Prince Suraj Adekunbi made the appeal while speaking at a forum in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital.

Prince Adekunbi who was represented by his Deputy, Prince Olakunle Oluomo pointed out that illegal activities including felling of unripe trees in the forest reserves had negatively affected the socioeconomic development of the state.

He stated that the war against illegal felling of unripe trees would be won if people would desist from patronising the perpetrators of the act.

The Speaker noted that the Ogun State House of Assembly had already passed a law for the creation of additional forest reserves to the existing ones towards enhancing forest resources in the State.
