Division 2 of the Nigeria Basketball League has dunked off in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
The coordinator of the Atlantic Conference of the league, Coach Alabi Adelanwa told Radio Nigeria that the competition was part of the developmental initiatives of the Nigeria Basketball Federation.
Coach Adelanwa explained that the league would also expose the youths to stiff competition and prepare them for the future task in the game.
The Head Coach of Ondo State basketball team, Mr Bello Oluwafisayo, who lauded the efforts of the basketball federation to encourage youths to participate the slamming and dunking game, advised it not to relent in its desire to develop the sport.
In the opening games, Ekiti Raptors defeated Ondo kings 33 to 32 points, Young Royal from Ogun State beat Police Rookies from Lagos 48 to 43 points while Warlords from Ogun State lost to Warriors of Lagos State 33 to 34 points.
The top three teams from the Atlantic conference would represent the zone in the other qualifying series coming up at a later date.
