The wind of defection from one political party to another currently blowing across the country has also blown to the Ogun State House of Assembly as five members defected from one party to the other.

The members including Mr Jemil Akingbade representing Imeko Afon State Constituency and Mr Rasaq Oduntan representing Egbado North2 defected from Peoples Democratic Party PDP, to Africa Democratic Congress,ADC.

Mr Viwanu Ojo representing Ipokia/Idiroko and Mrs Juliana Akintayo representing Egbado South defected from Peoples Democratic Party,PDP, to All Progressives Congress, APC while Mr Adeyemi Harrison representing Ogun Waterside decamped from All Progressives Congress, APC, to Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Prince Suraj Adekunbi who read the letters of defection during plenary wished them goodluck in their new political parties.

The plenary had in attendance the APC State Chairman, Chief Derin Adebiyi  and a former member of House of Representative, Alhaji Isiaq Akinlade.

Speaking with newsmen after the plenary, Chief Adebiyi welcomed the new APC members, describing their actions as a booster for the party in the state.

Meanwhile, Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun has received two members of the state’s House of Assembly who defected from  the Peoples  Democratic Party  to All Progressives Congress, APC.

The  two new members who came to the governor’s office in company  of the state APC  chairman, Chief Derin Adebiyi said the giant strides  of the present administration was responsible for their defection.

Speaking with journalists, Mrs Akintayo Folakemi from Yewa South and Ojo Viwanu from Ipokia /Idiroko state constituencies also explained  that the crisis within the PDP was becoming unbearable, hence the need to move to the ruling party.

The duo who commended the visionary leadership style of President Muhammadu Buhari, described the APC as a party that stood for equity, fairness and transparent.

The APC state Chairman, Chief Derin Adebiyi who noted that the party would be opened to new members advised the party faithful to remain focused and determined towards the success of the party in the forthcoming polls.
