Eight year-old Goodness Ekunke has become the youngest-ever medalist for Ogun state, “The Gateway State” since its creation in 1976.

The Primary two pupil led the Ogun State Chess team to win team gold at the ongoing 4th National Youth Games holding in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Goodness Ekunke on Friday won a silver medal in individual chess event to increase the medal haul of the state.

His elder brother, Perez Ekunke also won a gold medal for the state in Chess while the third Gold medal in chess came through Okeke Isaac.

An elated Goodness Ekunke told who Radio Nigeria that his ambition was to play the game at the world stage praised the coaches for believing in his ability despite his tender age.

The Director of Sport, Ogun State Sport Council, Mr. Sola Faleti commended their resilience and hard work.
