Feature: Meet the Poison Bottle Tree

Namibia is a country in southern Africa, bordered on the west by the Atlantic Ocean; with Zambia and Angola as neighbouring or border countries.

The country is home to what can be described as one of the most deadly tree on planet earth, though its flowers look beautiful, the milky sap is said to be very poisonous.

The shape of the tree stem which rounds up like a bottle accounts for the name, and its milky sap was employed by Bushmen in the past as arrow poison.

Thus it is dubbed “Bushman poison  can also be found in Southern Angola besides North-Western and Central Namibia Desert.

Poison tree leaves are spiral, also clustering near the branch tips, borne only for three months a year.

Its stem of two meters in height, measuring up to fifty centimeter across at the base horning large flowers, which are pink to white and dark red towards the centre, adds to the poison tree’s unusual shape.
