The Tripartite Committee for the review of the National Minimum Wage has concluded its assignment for onward submission to the president.
NLC President, Comrade Ayuba Wabba made this known in Abuja while addressing a rally organized to mark this year’s World Day for Decent Work.
Comrade Wabba said the committee used the two days reconvened meeting to deliberate and arrived at a new minimum wage figure that was acceptable to all employers of labour in the country.
He expressed appreciation to the Organized Private Sector, Manufacturers Association of Nigeria and Nigeria Employers Consultative Association, NECA, for their resolve to pay the new minimum wage when it is signed into law.
When asked about the figure arrived at by the Committee, Comrade Wabba said the Presidency would make it public after deliberation by the National Economic Council.
Meanwhile, the NLC is carrying out protest and picketing of the Bolton White Hotel in Central Area, Abuja, for preventing its staff from belonging to labour Union and engaging workers beyond eight working hours a day as stipulated by labour laws.
