Oyo State Government says it is poised to bridge the gap among farmers, processors, agro allied industries, government and other stakeholders to trigger the state’s agro allied sector for optimal performance .
The State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi stated this at the opening ceremony of Oyo State Agriculture Investment Summit, held at IITA, Ibadan.
Governor Ajimobi in a message through his deputy, Chief Moses Adeyemo expressed regret that agriculture, which was the mainstay of the nation’s economy had been neglected, noting that the devastating consequences of the neglect among other reasons necessitated the summit, which was aimed at educating participants on the importance and dynamics of agriculture.
He also explained that his administration would work towards more viable agricultural programmes and policies to check rural-urban population drift.
In a remark, Oyo State Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Prince Oyewole Oyewunmi noted that the summit was aimed at developing synergy with stakeholders to close the gap along agricultural value chains and make agriculture business attractive to all.
Prince Oyewunmi expressed the hope that the summit would help stakeholders to be focused on their businesses and maximise the potential in agriculture.
