Universal Basic Education Commission, UBEC, has commenced another round of assessment and enumeration of primary schools in Oyo State in line with its National personnel audit.
Chairman, Governing Board of UBEC, Dr. Mamoud Mohammed stated this when he led the board on a courtesy visit to the office of Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi in Ibadan.
Dr Mohammed explained that the exercise would allow the commission to complete its data collection and statistics of all primary schools in the state for proper planning.
In a remark, Executive Secretary, UBEC, Dr. Hamid Bobboyi hinged on the need for government to increase funding for public education to safeguard the future.
Dr Bobboyi commended Oyo State Government for regularly fulfilling its obligations in payment of counterpart funds to the commission.
Responding on behalf of the state government, Deputy Governor, Chief Moses Adeyemo appreciated the commission for assisting the state in infrastructure and capacity building, while stressing the need for adequate statistics to develop basic education.
Chief Adeyemo urged the commission to fulfil its promise of building a model school in the state.
