Content providers in Radio Nigeria, Ibadan Zonal Station have been advised to operate according to ethics of journalism profession so as to achieve a peaceful general election in 2019.
The Zonal Director, FRCN, Ibadan, Alhaji Mohammed Bello gave the advice during an in-house forum organised for content providers from the Zonal Headquarter, Premier Fm and Amuludun Fm on political broadcast ahead of 2019 General Election.
Alhaji Bello, who enjoined the staff to be passionate about the job of informing, educating and entertaining the people, urged them to be cautious to avert imminent consequence of misleading the public.
Speaking on Hate Speech and its Dimensions, Deputy Director News, Pastor Dare Olorunfemi, sensitized the media professionals on hate expressions, which could trigger crisis during electioneering.
Pastor Olorunfemi, noted that necessary support should be given the Federal Government in its drive to combat the menace of hate speech pointing out that hate speech is not a freedom of expression.
In his contribution, General Manager, Premier fm 93.5, Reverend Niyi Dahunsi, stressed the need for content providers to be updated on Editorial guidelines and be transparent and factual in their broadcast.
Some of the participants, who lauded the forum, expressed the readiness to discharge their duties in line with the motto of Radio Nigeria, which is Uplift the people and Unite the Nation.
