Local Government and Local Council Development Areas in Ogun State want the House of Assembly to prevail over the State Government, to fulfill its promise on the remittance of certain percentage of their Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, collected on their behalf.
The Chairman, Yewa North Local Government, Mr. Rasaq Adeagbo made the plea when he received members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, on oversight visit, in Ayetoro.
Mr. Adeagbo who lamented the irregular release of statutory allocation to the council areas by state government, pointed out that the development had deprived them the opportunity to execute more projects for the people at the grassroots across the state.
He stated that the Council Areas were struggling to make ends meet through exploration of various means of revenue generation.
Responding, the Chairman, House of Assembly Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr. Tunde Sanusi advised the Council Areas to set up an Economic Planning Team that would channel their agricultural potential to profitable means towards enhancing the socio-economic development of the rural areas.
