The Speaker, Osun State House of Assembly, Dr. Najeem Salaam said a total of 53 laws were passed by the state lawmakers during the 5th and 6th assembly in the state, under his leadership.
Dr. Salaam made this known during the official signing of eight new bills into laws by the outgoing governor of the state, Rauf Aregbesola, at the Office of the Governor in Abere, Osogbo.
The Speaker in his remarks said Governor Aregbesola had performed excellently well by bringing monumental development to the state during his reign, stressing that they were, as lawmakers, happy to be part of his history and glory.
He explained that during the fifth assembly, a total of 32 bills were passed and signed into law by the governor while a total of 21 bills, including the eight being signed, were passed into law during the sixth assembly.
He thanked his colleagues for been loyal to the governor and as well as the state, saying despite the negative names people labeled them with, they did not derail on their promise to support the governor and bring development to the state.
Governor Aregbesola while signing the eight new laws passed by the house of assembly commended the Speaker and other lawmakers and for the support they accorded him during his tenure as governor.
In his remark, Governor-elect, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola assured the implementation of the laws that would be beneficial to the people noting that, a society not governed by the rule of law would be governed by the rule of the jungle.
