The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, wants states to establish Local Government Disaster Management Committees to enhance activities of the agency.
Director General, DG of NEMA, Mr. Mustapha Maihaja made the call in Ibadan, during a courtesy visit to the Oyo State Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi in his office.
Mr. Maihaja, who disclosed that the Southwest headquarters of NEMA had now been situated in Ibadan, said state governments should replicate the agency at the local government levels.
The NEMA DG appealed to the Oyo state government to provide office accommodation for the agency headquarters in the Southwest.
Reacting, Deputy Governor, Chief Moses Adeyemo, who received the NEMA boss, urged the agency to facilitate the delivery of pending relief materials to the state.
Chief Adeyemo assured the NEMA boss that all the agency’s requests would be addressed.
