The governorship candidate of Social Democratic Party, SDP, in Oyo State, Chief Bolaji Ayorinde, SAN, says if elected as governor in the forthcoming elections, he will appoint three commissioners of education
Chief Ayorinde made this known while launching his governorship campaign in Igangan, Ibarapa North Local Government area of the state.
He said the present state of education in Oyo State was below expectation and there was need to give priority to the sector.
Highlighting the importance of education, the SDP governorship candidate said commissioners would be appointed for primary schools, secondary schools and tertiary institutions.
Chief Ayorinde noted that twenty percent of the state’s budgets would be spent on the education sector.
He enjoined traders in the state to vote for Social Democratic Party, SDP, in the coming elections as, plans have been concluded to set up cooperative societies that would provide huge amount of loans to traders in the state.
The SDP candidate maintained the party was ready to be at the helm in Oyo State after the elections and appealed to the electorate not to sell their votes.
Chief Ayorinde, who paid a homage to the Asigangan of Igangan, Oba Lasisi Adeoye, assured that traditional rulers in Oyo State would play prominent roles in his administration if elected as governor.
Highlights of the programme were presentation of SDP flags to candidates of the party vying for elective positions in Ibarapa zone, and defection of some members of three political parties to SDP in Ibarapa North.
