A special prayer has been organized in Akure, the Ondo State capital, to seek the face of God for a peaceful 2019 general election and for the emergence of credible leaders.
The spiritual session organized by League of Imams led by Alhaji Ismail Ododoloto, was also directed at praying against various challenges facing the country such as Boko Haram insurgency, kidnapping, corruption and economic hardship.
During the prayer, the Chief Imam of Akureland, Alhaji Abdulhakeem Yayi-Akorede urged Nigerians to stop complaining but to use fervent prayers and votes to elect credible people into office.
Speaking on the topic, “State of the Nation: Who is to be blamed”, the Chief Lecturer, Shiekh Moshood Raji-Kewuyemi who blamed both leaders and followers for the current predicaments of Nigeria, urged people to always seek Allah’s forgiveness and engage in good deeds.
Former Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko, a Don, Professor Isiaq Amoo, and some candidates vying for State and National Assembly seats attended the special prayer.
