Armed Robbers Raid Awo Hall, University of Ibadan

Two final year female students of University of Ibadan were injured early this morning when armed bandits attacked Awo Hall of the institution.

Our correspondent who was at the institution gathered that the robbers gained entrance to nineteen rooms in Block B of the female hall carting away their phones, laptops and other valuables.

Narrating her experience, a final year undergraduate of Computer Science Department, Esther Adebiyi said one of the bandits, who ordered her to lie down, banged a weapon on her head despite plea not to take her laptop containing her project.

Another student, Hope Okoro said she jumped from her floor to escape rape leading to her ankle injury.

Reacting, Director of Public Communication of the institution, Mr Tunji Oladejo, who confirmed the incidence, said the armed robbers jumped the fence behind Emmanuel College at 2 am, noting that they escaped despite early arrival of security operatives.

Mr oladejo said security network around the hall had been strengthened to forestall recurrence of such attack
