The criminal case of advanced fee fraud filed against a Front-line traditional monarch in Osun state, the Oluwo Of Iwo Land, Oba AbdulRasheed Akanbi has been withdrawn.
The suit was struck out by Chief Magistrate Fatimah Sodehinde of the state magistrate court following its withdrawal by the plaintiff, the Oluwo-Oke of Iwo Oke,, Oba Kadiri Adeoye.
During the court proceedings, the Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba AbdulRasheed Akanbi failed to appear in court, making the Trial Magistrate, Olusola Aluko to issue a bench warrant against him, which was also not obeyed.
Oba Akanbi said his absence during the trial was not out of disrespect, but a misunderstanding.
The case, which had created tension in the state took the intervention of some notable Nigerians to be resolved, after prevailing on the plaintiff to withdraw the case and allow peace reign.
It would be recalled that Oba Adeoye had, in November 2016 approached the State Magistrate Court, accusing Oba Akanbi of concealing some facts about his past to the state government when he was installed over a year ago.
