Tragedy Averted as Motorists, Pedestrians Escape Death

Scores of pedestrians and motorists today escaped death by a whisker when the brake of a truck loaded with cartons of beer failed at Ereguru Junction, Ilesa, Osun State.

The Daf without a registration number was on the verge of ascending the Isare/Ereguru hill when the brake system failed and crushed two vehicles, an odyssey car marked FFE 995 AA and a mini commercial  bus with number plate,  EGB 322 XA before getting stuck in a drainage.

While narrating his ordeal, the truck driver, Mr. Femi Odole told our correspondent,  that all his efforts to Avert the accident were unsuccessful, expressing happiness  that it did not claim lives.

Owners of the two other vehicles that were involved in the accident , Mr Bamidele Balogun and Mrs. Aderonke  Ogunbakin attributed their escape to divine intervention.

Report  says the only pedestrian that sustained minor injury is receiving treatment in a hospital in the area.

Meanwhile,  motorists plying Sabo-Irojo axis are making use of alternative routes, while efforts are being made by the Federal Road Safety Corps, police and sympathizers to remove the vehicles and the cartons of beer littering  the road.
