The Minister of Health, Professor Isaac Adewole says his ministry will make obstetrics fistula repair one of its Cardinal agenda.
Professor Adewole who stated this at the inauguration of a one-week pooled obstetric fistula repair at the Wesley Guild Hospital, Ilesa, Osun state also said cancer screening would be made free in the country.
He hinted that his ministry would prioritize the fistula repair and create more treatment centers in order to clear the backlog of cases.

Obstetric fistula is a health condition involving tearing of female genital organ during childbirth due to the narrowness of the genitals which is said to be prevalent in Nigeria.
Available statistics indicates that 50,000 -100,000 cases of obstetric fistula are recorded annually worldwide.
