Osun State Governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola has condemned the attack by some suspected political thugs on the State Commissioner for Regional Integration, Mr Bola Ilori at a programme in Akure last Wednesday.
Mr Ilori, who was part of the delegation representing the state at the All Progressives Congress’ public forum on True Federalism and Restructuring was attacked by some people.
Governor Aregbesola in a statement signed by his Media Adviser, Sola Fasure described the attack as barbaric, reprehensible and an assault on the sovereignty of the state.
While calling on law enforcement agencies to ensure that the perpetrators of the attack were brought to book, Mr Aregbesola said whoever sponsored them must also be fished out.
The governor also wondered whether the comment of the Ondo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Yemi Olowolabi, that the Osun delegate was the aggressor, who had come to the venue of the event to cause trouble, was diplomatic enough.
He noted that such remark was capable of causing disaffection between the sister states, who had lived without any rancour towards each other for years.
