Participants at an interactive session on security awareness by the National Orientation Agency have called for a value system that will de-emphasize materialism to reduce the crime rate in the society.
The interactive session, which had in attendance market women, artisans, students and civil society groups was organized to enhance best practices needed to reduce security threats.
Representative of the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abimbola Oyeyemi, stated that there was the need to orientate the youths to stop worshiping money and assured of the readiness of the Police to ensure a safe society.
Ogun State Director of the National Orientation Agency, Mr. Sola Babalola explained that the event was aimed at promoting and increasing the level of security awareness and consciousness in the society.
Others who spoke at the event include representatives of security agencies and ethnic groups.
