40 Years After, Ilesha Sets to Get Pipe Borne Water

By the end of 2019, pipe borne water will flow from taps across the whole of Ilesa city and its environment after over forty years.

The Governor of Osun State, Mr Rauf Aregbesola gave the assurance while flagging off the Ilesa Water Supply and Sanitation Project in

The water supply project involved four phases of construction of Dam in Kajola, Construction of Transmission Mains and booster pumping
station in Iloba, construction of concrete reservoirs at Oke Imo, Olorunsogo and Oke Opo as well as construction of the distribution lines.







According to him, the Dam project was delivered by the Federal Government at eight point three Billion Naira in 2014, while the
booster stations and reservoirs were done with a loan facility of sixty-five Million Dollars secured from the Islamic Development Bank in Jedda, Saudi Arabia.

The Osun helmsman, however said upon completion, the public would be made to pay a token for water used.










In a remark, the joyous Owa Obokun of Ijesa Land, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran described the water project as a breakthrough for the whole
of Ijesa kingdom, considering the fact that such had been severally abandoned in the last thirty six years.

Earlier, the lead consultant to the project, Mrs Tawa Williams explained that the water would not be dispensed free so as to enable the refund to the Islamic Development Bank.
