Sixty-nine new projects are to be constructed in three local government areas of Ondo State.
Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu disclosed this while signing memorandum of understanding for the implementation of Niger Delta Support Programme, NDSP4 in Akure.
Governor Akeredolu, who named the affected local governments as Akoko North West, Ilaje and Ondo East, said the remaining local government areas would be captured soon.
According to the governor, the projects included 12 educational blocks, Nine (9) health posts, 15 water borne, Nine civic centres, Nine markets and Nine Agro- Processing industries
Governor Akeredolu, who implored contractors handling the projects to engaged skilled youths from the affected communities, said the overall objective of the programme was to reduce poverty in the Niger Delta through promotion of participatory and gender sensitive programmes
Earlier, an official from the Federal Ministry of Budget and National Planing, Mr Olanrewaju Opanubi said the projects initiated by the European Union would be supported by the state and the concerned local authorities
Mr Olanrewaju enjoined the affected local governments to support the projects in the interest of their communities
