Ogun State Government has paid compensation worth millions of naira to some residents of Kemta in Itoku area of Abeokuta, whose property will pave a way for the construction of shopping malls in the axis.
The Chief whip at the State House of Assembly, Mr Idowu Olowofuja, who disbursed the monies to the beneficiaries on behalf of Governor Ibikunle Amosun also announced that each affected family would be given a block of flat by the government to ensure that their symbolic ancestral home in the area was sustained.
Mr Olowofuja explained that shopping malls and the block of flats would be built in the area, assuring that the demolition exercise would be backed up with appropriate compensation plans.
While commending the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun for putting the affected people into consideration, the Baale of Kemta Itoku, Chief Aregbesola Arikuyo noted that the developmental strides of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led Administration would transform the entire state.
Some affected tenants and landlords including Azeez Olafuyi, Jelili Olafuyi, Serifat Ayodele, Lateef Ayodele lauded the governor for the compensation, describing the gesture as a relief the people.
