The All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State has held parallel congresses.
Radio Nigeria Correspondent reports that the two elections were based on consensus arrangements.
A group loyal to Governor Abiola Ajimobi held its Congress at Lekan Salami Sports Complex, Adamasingba while the group called Unity Forum elected its officers at Obafemi Awolowo Stadium, Oke Ado, Ibadan.
Radio Nigeria observed that the two Congresses had officials of Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in attendance.
The parallel congress of the group loyal to the Governor Ajimobi was conducted by members of the 5-man APC National committee members from Abuja led by Engineer Abdullahi Gwarzo while Mallam Shehu Wahab led another 5-man national team of the party to witness that of the Unity Forum.
Congratulating the new executives, Governor Abiola Ajimobi urged them to be diligent in the task of returning the APC to power in the 2019 general elections.
Minister of Communications, Alhaji Adebayo Shittu and Senator Monsurat Sunmonu representing Oyo Central who belonged to the Unity Forum said the group became imperative to correct impunity in Oyo APC.
Senator Ajimobi’s group returned Chief Akin Oke as the state Chairman while the other congress produced Alhaji Isiaka-Alimi as the chairman.
It would be recalled that the two groups had last week held parallel local government congresses.
Present at the Adamasingba Stadium congress were former Governor, Adebayo Alao-Akala, former Senate leader, Teslim Folarin, Senator Fatai Buhari representing Oyo North and three House of Representatives members.
While that of the Unity Forum had in attendance eight House of Representatives members and party chieftains including Dr. Busari Adebisi and Professor Adeolu Akande.
In the meantime, a prominent member of the party and former Governor, Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala has promised to lead a reconciliation team in to settle the rift in Oyo APC.
