The National Assembly has again been called upon to consider the constitutional roles for traditional institution in governance.
Owa Obokun of Ijesaland, Oba Adekunle Aromolaran made the call while addressing members of Lagos State House of Assembly, LAHA, during a special plenary held in his honor.
Oba Aromolaran said the country was blessed with array of seasoned traditional rulers who were vast in their professions, stressing that rendering them redundant would not help the country.
The monarch commended the assembly for adopting mother tongue for proceedings once in a week, urging other states to emulate the step to preserve Yoruba language and culture.
Speaker of the House, Mr. Mudashiru Obasa said the plenary which coincides with the coronation anniversary of the Oba of Lagos, Oba Riliwan Akiolu was held to tap from the wealth of experience of the visiting Owa Obokun.
Earlier, the majority leader, Mr. Shina Agunbiade had moved that the House welcome for Oba Adekunle Aromolaran to the hallowed chamber quoting Section 114 of Lagos State Law.
The House later adjourned sitting till July 4, 2018.
