Pensioners of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria, FRCN, Ibadan Zonal Station have called on the federal government to pay their outstanding thirty three percent pension arrears.
The pensioners who converged on Studio One, FRCN Broadcasting House, Dugbe, Ibadan embarked on intensive prayer to draw government attention to their demand.
Addressing the retirees, Chairman FRCN Pensioners Association, Ibadan Zonal Station, Elder Sola Ogunmola said the choice of resorting to prayer was informed by avoided deaths of members who lacked sufficient fund to foot medical bills.
Narrating his experience, a retired manager programmes who was also Chairman Organizing Committee, Venerable Tayo Adebayo said numerous commendations received while in service was propelled by their selfless, committed and dedication to service.
Venerable Adebayo however lamented the worsening condition of the retirees and called on government to pay the outstanding thirty three percent arrears.
In an interview, National President, FRCN Pensioners Association, Princess Funmilayo Momoh-Fabiyi regretted the deplorable condition of FRCN saying prayer remained the panacea with which the lost glory of the corporation can be restored.
Responding, the Zonal Director, FRCN Ibadan Zonal Station, Alhaji Muhammed Bello represented by the Deputy Director Marketing, Mrs. Bolanle Owoyemi gave assurance that their prayer would be answered.
Apart from moment of silent observed for lost members, the prayer session also served as moment of re-union for the pensioners.
