Local government chairmen in Oyo State have been urged to identify the immediate needs of their area for effective local government administration.
Chief of Staff to the Oyo State Governor, Dr. Gbade Ojo gave the advice at induction and capacity building programme for newly elected Chairmen and Heads of local Government Administration and Council Managers, organised by the State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters.
Dr. Ojo urged the council chairmen to develop a three-year action plan in line with development needs of their council.
He told them to maintain good relationship with relevant government agencies and ministries, which he said would assist them to achieve their vision.
The chief of staff appealed to them to study financial regulation very well to guide them in the area of spending their council budget.
Head of Service in Oyo State, Mrs. Hanah Ogunesan advised the participants to be innovative in increasing internally revenue generation.
She appealed to the chairmen to be more committed to the development of their areas
Oyo State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr. Bimbo Kolade said the programme was organised to rub mind with the council chairmen on ways to achieve rapid development in the state.
