FG to Declare State of Emergency on Water Sanitation

Federal Government will on the eighth of next month declare a state of emergency on water sanitation and hygiene in a bid to solve the problem of inadequate water supply across the country.

Minister of Water resources, Alhaji Suleiman Adamu, made this know in Ibadan, at the special town hall meeting organised by the Federal Government.

Giving account of stewardship in his ministry, the Minister of Water Resources, Alhaji Suleiman Adamu lamented that inadequate supply of pipe borne water had been a major problem in Nigeria.

Alhaji Adamu noted that in the last three years, the Federal Government had embarked on several water projects across the country.

He explained that most states across the federation were experiencing critical challenges particularly in urban water supply and the Federal Government was working to provide necessary support.

The minister also said the Federal Government had entered into a public private partnership on the Ikere Gorge dam in Oke Ogun area of Oyo State to harness it’s potentials.

In a remark, the host governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi said the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government had performed excellently

Participants at the town hall meeting in separate submissions, called on the Federal Government to find a lasting solution to incessant killings across the country, and also, declaring a state of emergency on the Oyo-Ogbomoso road.
