Ogun State Government says it has approved over 11 Billion Naira for the payment of workers’ outstanding deductions and gratuity, from the 17.3 Billion Naira Paris Club Fund received from the Federal Government.
Governor Ibikunle Amosun announced this during the 2019 budget Treasury Board Meeting held at Obas Complex, Oke Mosan.
He noted that the amount paid, surpassed the initial agreement of 50 percent from the Paris Club and promised not to relent in ensuring that workers received their entitlements as at when due.
Governor Amosun said though the agitation for the upward review of workers’ salaries in the Country was their rights, added that there was the need for government to increase its internally generated revenue to meet the rising demands in the State.
The Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Ms Adenrele Adesina who had explained that the meeting was part of the budget process said the Ministry was working hard to ensure sustained budget performance of 75 percent annually.
The Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Mrs Modupe Mujota said the issues raised during the town hall meeting especially on the upgrade of infrastructure in Tertiary Institutions and model Schools had been captured in 2019 budget proposal.
Also, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Babatunde Ipaye who said the Ministry had been able to curtail the outbreak of diseases in the State, noted that there was the need for the construction and rehabilitation of Health Centres in the State.
