A 23-year-oldman, Opeyemi Adeleke has been remanded in Ilesa prison custody by an Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing a woman’s underwear.
The accused person Opeyemi Adeleke faces of two county-charge bothering on theft and unlawful access to someone’s belonging.
The Magistrate, Mrs Mary Awodele, ordered the accused person to be remanded in prison custody due to the magnitude of the offence committed.
The Prosecutor, Inspector Jafani Musilim, told the court that the accused person committed the offence on Monday at about one o’clock in the night ,at Ago Wande area, Osogbo, Osun State.
Inspector Musilim said the accused person in an unlawful manner stole the pant of one Gift Sunday without her consent and hid it before he was noticed.
He said it took the effort of the police to retrieve the underwear before the accused person was brought to the court.
The prosecutor said the offence committed contravened sections 249(d) and 3909(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.
The accused person pleaded not guilty to the offences.
The defense counsel, Mrs Susan Ajegbe, prayed the court to grant the accused bail in the most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, however, overruled the bail application and ordered for a formal bail application on the next date of adjournment, 12th of next month for ruling on the bail application.
