The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, wants Persons with Disabilities, PWDs, to vote their conscience and conduct themselves in line with Electoral Act provisions in the 2019 General Elections.
INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, in Ondo State, Dr. Rufus Akeju expressed this at a sensitisation forum for Joint National Association of Persons With Disabilities in Akure, Ondo State capital.
Dr. Akeju noted that adequate provisions have been made to cater for PWDs and other challenges ahead of the polls.
The REC cautioned members of the PWDs against selling their votes to avoid mortgaging their future and that generations yet unborn.
In a mini lecture, one of the PWDs and a lecturer at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko, Mr. Rotimi Olubodede charged members to participate actively in the elections.
Mr. Olubodede stressed that such participation would enable them elect leaders that would represent their interest well.
He applauded the Federal Government for enacting the Nigeria Disability Act in the overall interest of people with disabilities.
