Ahead of this Saturday’s elections, the Pan-Yoruba sociopolitical group, Afenifere, has urged Yoruba people to vote for only presidential candidate that will restructure the country for an improved economic and security of lives of Nigerians.
The group said voting for the right presidential candidate would bring about the needed economic growth, guarantee true federalism, engender genuine security and eliminate nepotism in government in the country.
The Afenifere’s position is contained in a communiqué issued at the end of its emergency meeting held at the residence of its National Leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti in Akure, the Ondo state capital.
The communiqué signed by Pa Fasoranti, Chief Ayo Adebanjo, Chief Olu Falae and Senator Femi Okurounmi reaffirms the Afenifere’s support for the Resolution of the Regional Leaders of Igbo, Niger-delta, Middle Belt Forum, Northern Elders Forum endorsing the candidacy of the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
The Yoruba Group explained that it did not support Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s ticket with President Muhammadu Buhari due to the All Progressives Congress, APC, government’s refusal to embrace restructuring of the country despite promising to do so four years ago.
