It was a special day for some street children around Mokola, Queen Cinema and Sabo area of Ibadan as a Non Governmental Organization based in Ibadan,DAROLS Support Initiatives,DSI,celebrated them to mark this year’s street children’s day.
The children were given free medical care,as well as barbing, hair plating, and feeding.
The children were also treated to a nice music to entertain them.
Speaking with Radio Nigeria, DAROLS Support Initiatives media officer, Mrs Ronke Adepoju who frowned at increasing rate of children on the streets, stressed that the needs of the children were being under reported.
Mrs Adepoju called on government to give proper recognition to April 12 as street children’s day saying such would give more attention to the need of the children
General Manger, Premier fm Ibadan, Reverend Niyi Dahunsi, called on government to ensure that children on the street were given sound education.
Reverend Dahunsi also called for concerted efforts from society to rid the country of street destitute.
