Speakers Hold Orientation Workshop for Assembly Elects

Towards ensuring effective legislative duties to the people in the coming administration, an orientation workshop has been organized for the members-elect of the Houses of Assembly of Ogun, Oyo and Lagos states.

In a keynote address, the Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Prince Suraj Adekunbi, advised the legislators-elect to equip themselves with necessary capacity building programmes that would enable them to meet the expectations of people of their constituencies.

Prince Adekunbi emphasised that quality representation and enactment of people-oriented laws were the bedrocks of socio-economic development of a nation, and urged the members-elect of the Houses of Assembly to justify the confidence reposed in them by the people through their votes.

Also, the representatives of Speakers of Oyo and Lagos Houses of Assembly, Mrs Foluke Oyediran and Mr Wasiu Eshilokun-Sanni charged the legislators-elect to ensure that the knowledge acquired at the workshop reflected in their day to day activities during plenary.

They equally implored them to collaborate and work with other arms of government for a common goal that would better the lots of the people.
