The Permanent Secretary, Delta State Ministry of Health, Dr. Minnie Oseji says the ministry was collating a data of people with rare blood types noting having such information could save lives in the event of emergency blood transfusion.
Dr. Minnie Oseji stated this at an event in Asaba to mark the 2019 World Blood Donor Day.
The Permanent Secretary stated the ministry has also set up the State Blood Transfusion Services to enable the capacity to provide a high number of pints of blood if needed.
Similarly, The Obi of Idumuje Unor, Charles Ayansi, who is a champion of blood donation, said he was a member of a nongovernmental organization whose mission was to get people to know their blood group for couple compatibility and to know their HIV status.
The event featured a Road Walk through major streets in the state capital and a visit to the Midwifery market and other high traffic locations.
