Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State has condemned the recent incident in the state in which a cleric with the Methodist Church, Ado Ekiti Reverend Adewuyi Adegoke faked his own kidnap.
The cleric was arrested on Wednesday while attempting to cash the ransom he had collected for his own kidnap.
Governor Fayemi while speaking during the State Ministers Prayer Forum held in Ado-Ekiti said it was unfortunate that a cleric could engage in such devilish act.
He noted that such action was a great disappointment and mockery of the sanctity of religious leaders.
Dr Fayemi expressed the readiness of his administration to work with relevant security agencies to check the rising wave of criminal activities in Ekiti while those behind the dastardly acts would be brought to book.
The governor who thanked the ministers for their prayers and support told them that government would continue to initiate programmes that would make life bearable for the people.
Earlier, the Bishop of Ekiti West Anglican Diocese, Bishop Rufus Adepoju prayed that the state would continue to witness peace and development and urged leaders to ensure selfless service.
