Property including industrial machines and mattresses of various types and sizes have been destroyed by fire at the multi-million Naira Yinka Oba Foams Factory, Ilesa, Osun State.
According to a worker who gave his name as Ade, the factory was using power generating set when the operator noticed sparks from the machine in the cutting section of the orthopedic mattress production around 10 o’clock Friday morning which resulted in a fire that gutted the whole department.
It took the concerted efforts of the company’s workers, neighbors and Ilesa Fire Station to prevent the fire from spreading to other sections.
Speaking on the incident, leader of the firefighters, Mr. Oyesomi Olusegun attributed the rapid response of the fire department to its rejuvenation by the present administration in the state as well as the proper firefighting equipment installed in the factory which aided the mission.
Though no life was lost to the fire outbreak, many products of the company including orthopedic and deluxe foams as well as pillows worth millions of Naira were destroyed.
Efforts to speak with the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Chief Yinka Obaleye were unsuccessful as she was busy praising God amidst sympathizers and well-wishers at the scene.
On site to maintain law and order throughout the rescue mission were men and officers of the Nigeria Police and those of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense, NSCDC.
