Four residents of Ajobo/Omilabu/Adenlerin, who were protesting over stray bullets from shooting range at Military Barracks, Odogbo,Ojoo and were arrested by Operation Burst for extortion of money from motorists have been released.
They were released at about seven o’clock in the night by the police.
Reports say the release of the protesters at Iyaganku Police Station was due to the intervention of prominent people in the state including Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Saliu Adetunji.
In an interview before the arrest, chairman, Ajobo/Omilabu/Adenlerin and it’s environs, Mr Kareem Lawal said the shooting in the range at the Barracks had been put on-hold since 2009 but resumed periodically in 2017 till date and had affected people in the areas
Another protester, Prince Ade Ashaye noted that the money being collected was a voluntary donation to the cause of the struggle to end operation in the shooting range.
Operational Officer of Operation Burst, Captain Usular Ikechukwu who led the team to the scene said the arrest of the protesters followed the information of financial extortion of motorists which was against the policy of Oyo State Government.
