Oyo Assembly Asks Agencies to Rid State of Destitute, Beggars

Oyo State House of Assembly wants the state government, Ministry of Women Affairs and State Road Traffic Management Agency to take decisive steps to rid the state off destitute and beggars.

This followed a motion moved by member representing Ogbomoso North, Mrs Olawunmi Oladeji on the urgent need to extend the divider at Mokola Flyover to prevent accidents and evacuation of destitute from the vicinity.

Seconding the motion, Deputy Chief Whip, member representing, Mr Yusuf Adebisi suggested the launch of operation clean up Ibadan where destitute will be relocated to their states.

Also speaking, member representing Ibadan North Constituency 2, Mr Adebayo Babajide said some people disguise as destitute to perpetrate evil at night.

On the motion to create divider on the Mokola flyover, member representing Afijio State Constituency, Mr seyi Adisa said the Executive should rather put in place fines for traffic offenders which will boost the state IGR.

Speaker of the house, Mr Adebo Ogundoyin called for proper rehabilitation of the destitute by relocating them to their states
