International School Ibadan, I.S.I, Muslim parent’s forum engaged in a peaceful protest over alleged harassment of female students over the use of hijab.
The peaceful protest was carried out at Bodija estate mosque after jumat service.
The protesters carried placards with various inscriptions such as “I stand with I.S.I on hijab, I.S.I belongs to UI, UI is public university funded by government.
Addressing newsmen, chair man of the forum, Abdur-Rahman Balogun alleged that some Muslim female students who use hijab as part of their Islamic rights were harassed outside the school, a situation which he described as unlawful.
Alhaji Balogun said the forum was worried because fundamental human rights of the students had been infringed upon, calling on the school authority to respect religious practices.
Recently the institution has been engulfed by crisis over the use of hijab and the matter had been taken to court.
